Yeovil
The company is headquartered in Yeovil, Somerset where it was founded in circa 1826. The Yeovil factory continues to produce high end technical leathers and is the centre for research and development for the production of leathers elsewhere in the world.
It is the centre for our retail operations with an extensive offering of leather gloves, garments and accessories as well as a vast hide and skin store where members of the public can browse and purchase leathers of all types.
Since 2010 Yeovil also houses our design and prototyping capability for our finished product manufacturing in Walsall and Ethiopia.
Ethiopia
In December 2009 Pittards purchased Ethiopia Tannery Share Company from the Ethiopian Government, having managed the factory under contract to the government since 2005. This acquisition, together with others signed with private sector partners in Ethiopia gives Pittards significant access to and influence over its primary raw material for glove leathers; the Hairsheep, alongside significant production of Goat skin and Cattle hide from Ethiopia and other origins.
Further investment is ongoing in facilities for finished goods production-initially garments but with glove and other articles under development.
Taiwan
In early 2006 Pittards signed an agreement with licensing partner Teh Chang for the manufacture of certain premium category bovine leathers, enhancing business operations and logistics.
