Pittards engaged in producing pilots' leather for RAF gloves as a protected industry sector during World War II.

Pittards produced the first guaranteed washable dress glove leather.

Perspiration resistant leathers were introduced to the RAF.
1975
Pittards produced its first WR100 (Water Resistant Tannage) leather for military use.

John W W Pittard, the sixth generation family member of Pittards, was appointed Group Managing Director.

WR100 leather technology wsa incorporated into sport-specific products providing water and stain resistance, breathability, durability and stay-soft feel.
