Indiana is a structured saddlery leather that has a smooth surface with a fine haircell print. This is a water resistant leather that is ideally suited for leather goods such as bags, handbags and luggage as well as saddles. Pittards leather hides are sold as sides where the leather hide is split in half down the backbone; this product has a thickness of 2.0 - 2.2mm and an average area of 20 square feet.



  • Grading: Being a natural product, all leather hides will have some marks, natural defects and occasionally, small holes. Our skins are graded to reflect the occurrence of natural blemishes.

  • Grade I: suitable for cutting patterns with large panels

  • Grade II: suitable for cutting patterns with medium panels

  • Grade III: suitable for cutting patterns with small panels.

It is advisable to test the level of colour fastness of the leather you are intending to use in order to ensure it is suitable for its end use as Pittards cannot accept any liability for colour transfer onto other materials.
